Northampton County Council 3 years. Member of personnel, finance, and open space committees; Williams Township Supervisor 4 years; Experience balancing budgets, negotiating contracts, funding capital projects, emergency services, and recreation.

We must continue fiscally responsible budgeting. County jobs, contracts, and grants must be awarded on cost and merit. Focus on core government functions that serve citizens and promote programs that work. Maintain funding for farmland and open space preservation and continue progress on an affordable bi-county health department. Lobby federal and state governments to adequately fund human services and reimbursements for Gracedale patients.

Unprofessional conduct. For years we have seen attempts to award contracts to the highest bidder, corporate welfare with taxpayers’ dollars, and political paybacks, etc. I will address these issues by applying the two things I learned in business: customer service and fiscal responsibility. They are the keys to running any organization, and meeting the defined needs of our county’s citizens. No more pet projects, multi-million dollar bonds to decorate windows and personal spaces.

Retired educator English department Nazareth schools; part time executive director Nazareth Blue Eagle Education Foundation

Former Lower Nazareth Township supervisor, treasurer, planning commission, and chairman of zoning hearing board. Presently Northampton County Council at-large (14 years).

The issues all come back to financial issues. The prison recidivism, pension fund, building needs such as archives, repairing or building a parking deck are just a few. The treatment center is a huge need because prevention of recidivism could save many tax dollars for other needs. The health department has been a long time dream. Now events have occurred which brings this vision closer to reality.

As a candidate, I see this election as an opportunity to be an agent of change, and a positive force for Northampton County progress. As a Councilman, I bring fiscal responsibility, experience, and the ability to create economic action for Northampton County. I look forward to serving the county for which I am proud to be a resident.

Apply sound management to maintain low taxes, while still providing sufficient services to the public, maintaining the buildings, treating employees in a fair manner, and maintaining the safety and well-being of the residents. Reducing the prison population by implementing proven programs and classes. Reducing the cost of 65 cents of every tax dollar being paid to the courts and jail. Long range planning and preservation of valuable resources such as farmland and open space.

3rd year serving on the Bushkill Township Planning Commission. I was, until recently, a successful business owner for 20 years. I alone managed the budget as well as managing my business. Through good planning and budgeting, I was able to buy, sell, and manage commercial real estate.

With my business and budget background I would likely view spending and taxes as my major issues. As they are tied to everything the county does this is my starting point. In this current climate we need to hold the line on taxes and spending. The monies we do spend need to be well planned and monitored to make sure every dollar is spent as intended.
